I worked on what we learnt during the editing workshop with Jordan MacRae by colour grading some footage that I filmed over the Christmas holidays in Cyprus. My objective was to further amplify the vibrancy of the colours in the footage, to add more dimension to my shots, and create the warm and summery haptic tone that my final film will have.

The colours in some of the footage looked quite faded due to the fact that they were filmed during the day, when there was intense sunlight that caused the footage to be overexposed. Correcting the shadows, highlights, whites, and blacks of the footage, as well as experimenting with increasing or decreasing specific colours which allowed me to transform the captured landscapes into how they looked through the naked eye.

It was important for me to intensify the summery colour palette through increased saturation and contrast in order to convey the warmth through the image, but not go too far, so as to maintain a high level of naturalism, since my project is grounded in neo-realist elements. I feel that this is the best approach for achieving haptic visuality within a naturalistic project.
